Literary Sidenotes

I meant to post this awhile ago when it was first released by AbeBooks.  It gives a really nice and comprehensive summary of a number of literary based news throughtout 2011.  A fun way to look back on the past year!

And on the other side of the spectrum, I recently discovered that the British literary magazine, Literary Review, gives an annual Bad Sex in Fiction Award! This yearly tradition started in 1993 and is presented to the author who produces the worst description of a sex scene in a novel.  The rationale for such an award is "to draw attention to the crude, tasteless, often perfunctory use of redundant passages of sexual description in the modern novel, and to discourage it"  I find this absolutly delightful!
